………………………..The fabric of this Clip Dot blouse was truly beautiful. It was excellent quality. There were and are many different qualities of clip dot fabrics on the market, and what determines the price of the fabric is what yarn they are made in and how the dots are manufactured. You can see in the close up photo the actual clipping of the threads between the dots. This type of fabric was originated in Switzerland, and originally the jacquard dots were connected with “floating threads” between each dot. Then someone would clip each of the dots by hand eliminating the connecting threads. As you can imagine this was a very time consuming, and costly way to make these fabrics. Eventually a machine was created to do the clipping automatically.
