………………………My vacation in St Maarten was only 7 days, but every day was sunny and breezy. I went with a very good friend of mine, George. Actually, Jac hired George as a trainer for me as a present for my birthday 18 years ago, and he’s been my trainer ever since….we are family. His dad who was one year older than me died 5 years ago, so he’s like a son to me. We both needed a vacation and he suggested we go to the Caribbean for R&R. I thought OK, why not so off we went. We were originally supposed to go to Anguilla, but we ended up staying on St Maarten. George’s second vaccination was only 10 old before we left, and Anguilla requires 21 days before entry onto the island. Even though he did have both vaccinations and his 2 day old Covid test was NEGATIVE, to our surprise….they still refused him entry…So all of our plans were changed at the last second…literally, and we stayed on St. Maarten…..It was a different kind of vacation for me. Instead of falling out of bed onto the beach….every day we got into the car and headed out for a new beach. Indigo was my favorite because it was quiet and not crowded. Just one row of chairs lined the beach. There was a terrific little restaurant/bar on the beach, and Jesse, photo at lower right, took very good care of us setting up the chairs, bringing towels and drinks…. The pool at the left was at the hotel we stayed at, but to my dismay there was no beach at the hotel….just coral rock beyond the pool….As it turned out that was Ok….going to a different beach everyday was more fun……..Covid makes traveling very very difficult. The lines at the airport were endless!, and I won’t be traveling again out of the country until all restrictions are lifted. All in all I had a good time, and got a great tan that is already fading!!!

Thanks for letting me know Louis. I miss the restaurants and driving around the island and of course shopping. I am patient and will wait until things settle down to travel.
Oh Louis my favorite spot St. Maarten! I had been going there and Anguilla annually since the 80’s but since the hurricane and now COVID I have not wanted to travel. I hope too as soon as this pandemic is over. How are things there now? You look well rested I must say. BTW I received my rose gold earrings finally they were on wait list and they are absolutely gorgeous!
it isn’t as difficult to get into St Maarten though you do have to pre fill out entry forms and e-mail them in. Anguilla is much more restricted and they have stricter requirements, but all this can change.
hi Louis
You have inspired me and I’m going to take mom on a cruise. Booked yesterday for an April voyage. It’s out of NOLA so easy to get to and fro.
I’m planning on bringing lots of Linea- I’m always ‘ more’ dressed than the average person, but it makes me feel good and put together.
Thanks for the inspiration- I’m so sick of a life on hold.
Sarah
ps did you happen upon a restaurant named Tropicana in St Maartin?
No Sarah, I don’t know that restaurant, but there are so many!
Hi Louis,
Bummer that you were not able to reach Anguilla but sounds like you made the most of an unfortunate circumstance. I’m sure the change of scenery and sun was good for you. Did George make you work out even on vacation? For me, travel is taxing enough but having to wear masks on long flights, COVID testing etc. just adds another layer of discomfort. I too just returned from a trip outside the US and am taking off again in 10 days. My trips were scheduled when I thought COVID would be a thing of the past. What wishful thinking! I love experiencing new places, just not the getting to and from. There’s no place like home.
We worked out a little, but we swam every day. Where were you and where are you going???….We were told in April Anguilla was lifting many restrictions!
