………………….I have many different flowers in my garden through out the spring and summer….but…..this is by far the strangest! Franco, my gardener/landscaper, planted it in my garden 2 or 3 years ago, and since it is a perennial it grows back each year…..Honestly, I don’t know if I love it or hate it. It stands out so much from the other plants that it takes center stage. It’s about 8 feet tall, and these pompom flowers cascade down almost touching the ground……It also seems to be spreading…….It’s like an alien plant. It has two names that I have come up with….”Love Lies Bleeding”….and “Amazing Amaranths”…….WHAT DO YOU THINK????
Hats off to Franco for this exciting choice — but if you aren’t loving it every time you see it it’s not a success in your garden. Have him replace it with a clematis or a climbing rose (but not a Dutchman’s pipe vine — sounds like you are not a bizarre-plant guy). For late summer blooms in a container that are a bit different but pretty, try Acidanthera murielae — 2 foot tall stalks with fragrant white and burgundy flowers.
very interesting- a keeper
I love it! So different. Please ask Franco the name.
Karen I’ve seen it under two manes….”Amazing Amaranths”…..and “Love Lies Bleeding”….Google them
I LOVE IT! How gorgeous it would be cascading over the sides of a tall vase in a fall flower arrangement. Definitely a keeper.
“Designer” flowers, couldn’t be in a more apropos place!
