POSTCARDS CON”T

We spent most of our time on the beach or taking a dip in our plunge pool, but we did take a break from relaxing by playing a little croquet. The suite was beautiful and we hated to leave!

Gosh Louis, your photos got me feeling all sentimental. We always played croquet at our annual family reunions as a very competitive sport – horseshoes too!

Ahh, I remember those Torrid Zone trade winds of our trip to Bonaire.

Do tell, are the local chefs there doing exciting stuff with food fusion? The flavors of the Caribbean are like no other.

Many of the chefs are either French or English and they like to experiment. The chefs from Anguila cook local favorites and a zillion ways to cook fish.

I recall eating mucho ceviche of conch, shrimp & spiny lobster almost daily while in Bonaire! It’s funny how a Big World can seem so Small when you run into a traveling chef working in Costa Rica that you met in the Yucatan from prior years – LoL! He made the same delicious ceviche as Bonaire, tho the lobster seemed sweeter – perhaps warmer waters? – closer to Equator?

Time for a late lunch…. Hope you saw some Pink Flamingos?!

        Thanks for sharing.

I was the way Jac was about polyester, Louis. Any synthetic, really. But we are not comparing apples with apples with these new generation fibers. In fact, most clothing for active sports are now made of fast-wicking synthetics and they are much preferred to cotton.

Your villa is wonderful!!! It has been a long time since we have stayed in a hotel room for an extended vacation, although we rent apartments. It’s just nice to have room around you that is more nearly like “home”.

Oh Lous and Jac, I love croquet! Now I really must save my pennies and visit this resort.

I second Susan’s comments – I love the new feather knit pieces and the cotton prints. Funny, I wasn’t that interested in the feather knit pieces until I ordered one and then wow! The material is so nice to wear and so comfy and cool. The cotton pieces are fun and so wearable and stylish. I too have worn the drawstring skirts to death and the new hi/low skirt is perfect – not too extreme like so many others I have seen. I’m crazy about the watercolor print dress as well. Louis you really are a genius.

I’m going to Hawaii in a few weeks and I will be taking only carry-on packed with only your clothes. I know I will be cool, comfortable, and chic. Thank you.

Dear Victoria….have a wonderful time in Hawaii….which island? Before I started designing clothes for QVC, Jac never wore polyester and was a believer that all polyesters were hot and sticky and she could never wear them. On our trip 90% of what she brought was polyester, except for the cotton shorts and some cotton Ts. Almost everything was Feather Jersey…..Ts, tops, and tie dyed dresses, or the crushed poly georgette as in the dress with the uneven bottom and the big shirt in the same fabric. She also had my cotton/span leggings…..some bathing suits and that was basically it…………and she was cool as a cucumber……and some days were hot and humid………I guess it depends on ones chemistry how they react to the fabric, but for those who are comfortable in it…….love it! It’s funny because the new Russian print dress is also in the Feather Jersey and all the comments are positive about the fabric……go figure?

        Hi Louis,

My husband and I will be joining friends on the Big Island and I look forward to “showing off” my new Linea summer clothes. I too disliked synthetic fabrics and wouldn’t wear them for a long time. However, this new generation of polyesters is so different in feel and in breathability. Barbara makes a good point – most work out wear is now made of some form of polyester that breathes and wicks moisture away.

As you said, everyone is different, but I am now a confirmed feather knit-a-holic. I recently wore the feather knit “hoodie” in triple digit heat while looking for jade in California gold country. I remained as cool as was possible, no stickiness, and was the most stylish “rockhound” around.

I’m going to “steal” Jac’s packing list for my trip and add the watercolor dress for a dinner out.

Even a genius designer can’t please everyone all the time but you know you have a deservedly devoted following, myself included.

My love to Jac and thank you both for sharing your beautiful vacation photos.

    Louis!
It’s so nice of you to share your lovely vacation pictures. We are having a heat wave and I have to tell you, I am living in feather knits! I just love this group.
If I’m not in feather knit, I’m in your fabulous new cotton prints (tops, shorts & capris). They wash like a dream. I can hardly believe it’s cotton! I have worn the drawstring skirt to death as well, and absolutely love the new hi/low skirt. I just simply love everything from this past spring/summer season. THANK YOU! 🙂
It’s great to see you having some fun and relaxing – Jac looks stunning as always.
Notes for next year: I need a workhorse white summer knit or woven top, both sleeveless and short-sleeved.
