Ah, life is good.
Hi, Louis—can we talk Feather Jersey for 2014? OMG, to think I almost missed out on this collection, but with careful stalking, I was able to pick up 3 short skirts(Seafoam, Olive and Flamingo), 3 tanks (Aqua, Hemp and Smoke), 1 petite pant in Aqua, 1 Dolman sleeve top in Seafoam and 1 Drape Neck top in Flamingo—9 pieces in total—and boy oh boy, do I love it—I can’t take these pieces off–they are perfect in this 97 degree weather —in Massachusetts!! So, for 2014, may I request the following: short skirt in White, Black, Chili Pepper, Nectar, Smoke and Purple; tank in Black, Chili Pepper, Nectar and Purple; Drape Neck top in White, Black and Purple; pants in White, Black, Chili Pepper and Purple. Thanks for listening.
Enjoy this great American Celebration weekend!
And, I might add, after an exchange, stalking, waiting, etc I got everything (Feather Jersey) in Navy. As a larger size, the lighter colors don’t do us any favors. I am old enough to have been through the bell bottoms and pilazzo pants, but I love the fit and flow of these pants! So for 2014, I want some more darker colors, black, brown, purple and the tops in WHITE, WHITE. Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th, and thanks for the postcards from Anguilla, they made me smile.
Oh, and a question. I am hearing others refer to “slub” “slump” “?” knit, is that the same?
Karen in WA
Dear Karen…the verdict isn’t in on whether I will be continuing the FJ in any meaningful way. I think many women were turned off with all of the negative conversation, even though many hadn’t even tried it. It is slowly getting a following, because the fabric is light and cool, and once you try it you know it’s not hot nor is it clammy. I’m afraid white would be a no go because it might be to sheer for most, and many absolutely refuse to layer anything under it. Personally I would love it in white and I have some of the fabric in white and it is beautiful IMHO. I think the slub you are referring too is the horizontal texture and lines you see in the fabric. Have you tried the other Feather jersey style pant in the Walnut, olive and berry. It’s a terrific pant and the reviews are all good. Some have sized down one size, but I like it the way it is and was meant to be.
Louis,
I wrote my praise for FJ under the “Ask Louis” title, and I don’t believe I made it clear that I wear my Button Front Shirt in smoke OVER another top or dress — that is why I wrote that this FJ shirt was perfect for air conditioned venues and chilly evenings. My intention had been to layer it, and it very nicely becomes the perfect summer layering piece. I love it so much that I ordered another in aqua, along with the FJ Tank with Side Slits in aqua. I intend to layer them.
Louis, would they consider the Feather Jersey short “lined” skirt in White AND the drape neck top in White—neither of those pieces would be too sheer…and what a fantastic look that would be!!!
I agree with you that those that criticized the fabric had obviously never tried it as it is so light and refreshing–having just worn it through the last almost 100 degree days here in Massachusetts. I have never worn anything so light and breezy…it would be just a shame not to have this fabric continued. Lord, why does the Q make everything such “a mountain to climb” with the Linea line?
Dear Sheesh….my buyer would consider anything I propose, and when it come to selecting colors it is 99% my choice, of course with reorders I usually suggest 2 or 3 for them to choose from. As for the drape top and skirts, it remains to be seen if they will be reordered. The skirt has been very slow and the top only fair…….so we will have to see at the end of the season if they even qualify for reorder status. It really isn’t the Q that makes things difficult. They have a criteria that holds for ALL lines o apparel when it comes to deciding what gets reordered or not. When the returns go over a certain %, they are not reordered, even if all the inventory is gone. As you know for returns, it costs you a lot of money and it costs them a lot of money just to repackage, put back into the system and inventory the item again and sometimes again and again.I realize it can get frustrating when you find a garment that really works for you, it’s sometimes hard to understand why everyone doesn’t feel the same as you…..but then again we could all be living in berkas [sp]….lol
Well on this July 4th I was comfortable in mid 90 temperatures in the FJ tangerine tie dye dress. I would love more of the tops that I have already bought– tank and drape cowl neck sleeveless top to have the nectar, leaf green and berry. Its supposed to feel like 100 degrees outside today!! Guess what I will be wearing?? Hope your weekend is wonderful.
Regards,
Chris
Dear Sheesh….you should post this on the QVC Fashion Boards. It just might inspire others to try the fabric.
Happy 4th of July. Enjoy the day everyone.
Louis & Jac,
Happy July 4th to you and the girls. We are blessed to live in The United States of America.

Happy Fourth of July to you and your lovely wife, too! By the way, today is also my birthday. I won’t say how old I am, but the Beatles song “When I’m Sixty-Four” is quite appropriate for me today:). We are a blessed nation in many ways compared with most of the rest of the world. May we always keep that in mind, remembering those who went before us to secure our freedoms and keeping that torch of freedom alight always.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
So very well said, Louis. Despite all our troubles here at home, there is no better place to call home. I so enjoyed seeing pictures from your trip to paradise- you and Jac look so relaxed and chic!! How about a FJ grouping of casual t’s for the guys? I also see some inspiration for jewelry in the lighting fixture!! Looking forward to your visit at the end of the month!

I definitely had inspiration for jewelry on this trip….. but it was the palm fronds that caught my imagination. I would love to own FJ Ts for myself. Jac loved wearing them and now has them in all the colors.
