……………………..”THE LOOK” that opened the Spring 1992, Anne Klein Couture Show was inspired by the “CLASSICS”……..with a major TWIST……UNCONSTRUCTION…… The three fabrics in the photo were all made for me by Roberto Sarti, who’s mill is in Prato just outside of Florence, Italy. Roberto made beautiful fabrics, but I especially loved his innovative knit fabrics……He took one yarn that had a micro thin black thread twisted into it, mixed it with a silk yarn, and made three distinct fabrics for me…….A stretch light weight knit for tops, unitards, a pull-on tube skirt, leggings and dresses……a woven gauze, and a woven basket weave pattern jacket weight fabric, were made for me. It was both suitable for pants and skirts., besides different types of jackets…….The outfit in the photo on Gayle Elliot opened the show, and gave the audience a clear picture of what was to come…..Gayle is wearing a KNIT UNITARD….a ONE BUTTON WRAP GAUZE SKIRT, and a WOVEN DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER…..all in PUTTY….Some say you can tell if a show is going to be good or not when they see the first 4 or 5 outfits on the runway. I rather think that’s true….of course not everyone will always have the same opinion of those first outfits being shown…..They must have loved what they saw, because the collection sold very well!!
