“THE SIENNA MELANGE TWEED JACKET”

Sept group 16

This is going to be difficult, because each one of these jackets is a BEAUTY, and this combination of colors is a WOW……talk about a CLASSIC…..RICH…….TOWN & COUNTRY LOOK!….. The colors are IVORY, SIENNA, WINE. GREY, BLACK, and the illusive LUREX YARN…..for ordering it is called………SIENNA…………..I have it shown with the POSH KNIT CARDIGAN, A238520, in CAMEL, over the NEW POSH KNIT JEWEL NECK LONG SLEEVE CLASSIC PULL-OVER, A238520….in….PEWTER….&…the PEWTER POSH KNIT MUFFLER, A238530. The CAMEL PANT is A236146, but since they are sold out, as far a I know…..you can always wear GREY PONTE or BLACK. The CAVIAR pant is too blue for this jacket……..Pinned to the shoulder of the jacket is the new BROACH, J284040, in the GOLDEN BROWN combination and it is very special and unique……I would have named it ….HONEY….. For earrings….GUNMETAL, GOLD and SILVER all work perfectly!………..I would like a tweed jacket like this for myself!……..Now you have plenty of time to decide which one or ones you would like, but there aren’t a ton of them so…..to my Linea Ladies….. please ….I don’t want you to be disappointed…………………………enjoy…………..much Love……………Louis

    Hi Louis

How does the Sienna compare to last years Taragon Tweed? Is it about the same depth of color or is this a lighter or darker colored tweed? Which picture is most accurate for the color?

    Thanks

    Laura

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Laura….they are very different. The Sienna tweed overall effect is paler due to the addition of the ivory yarns, and the colors, overall are softer. The photo of the swatch to the lower right is pretty accurate.

    Dear Louis,
Love these jackets, stunning. If you were an Englishman, you would be Sir Louis, and Queen Elizabeth would look stunning rather than, well how she looks. Here is my question and if you have answered this before, I apologize… Why do almost all of the jackets/blazers/sweaters get longer as the size goes up? I am wider not taller. I hold up the smaller size and it hits me right where it should. I put on the size that is suppose to fit and it is too long. I try petites and they are too short, so that is not the answer. I have never understood this for the life of me. If, as the designer, you want the jacket to hit the body at a certain spot, then isn’t that the length for all of them? I honestly don’t understand why the larger sizes get longer in length.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Mrs. C…..the grading of all jackets is the INDUSTRY STANDARD. I happen to agree with you! I see no reason to make a LONG jacket even longer for plus sized women, and on the other hand I see no reason to shorten jackets for smaller sizes. The models are all tall and either wear xs or xxs and the jackets are always short and the sleeves are always too short….let’s not even discuss the PANTS…..they all look like they are ready for the flood. The reason given to me is this……NOT MY WORDS! The girth of large and plus size women takes up the extra length, so the garments have the same look and proportion as the missy garments. You may agree or not, but as long as I have been in this business that is the way it has always been. When I was in control at Anne Klein, I did not follow these rules. The style dictated how we were going to grade the garment. Of course we did not sell garments above a 12….sometimes a 14 if the stores requested it. This is something I have discussed with my manufacturer, and the answer is always the same…..these are QVC requirements and we MUST follow them or the production can be rejected for not having the required graded measurements. This is not a Linea situation….it holds for all QVC apparel.

        Dear Louis,
I thought that might have been the rational, BUT THEY ARE SO WRONG (sorry for the intensity it is not directed at you). I feel for those tall and thin women who, as you say, have clothing items that are almost always too short, just as I feel for those of us who are thought to be of such huge girth that we take up inches upon inches of fabric. To those of you who feel like you are always at the high water mark, I would love to give you the extra fabric I don’t need. If only it were that easy. I can now check off one more item on my ‘why in the world do they do that list?’ Be Well and God Bless. – Mrs. C

I must fall within the industry standard. My plus size figure looks best in the longer jacket but my 5′ 7″ height might be considered to be on the slightly taller size. We definitely all have our challenges in what my grandmother used to call “ready to wear”.

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

5’7″….is considered tall compared to the average American woman.

  3. Judy

Louis, What is the difference between the WK and the Posh knit?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judy…….Whisper Knit is a rayon/nylon blend, the Posh Knit is mostly silk with nylon, cashmere and lycra. The high percentage is luxury fibers, so the PK is considered a Luxury garment. Characteristically silk and cashmere have no memory and are delicate fibers. Have you ever worn a cashmere sweater and pushed the sleeve up and when you pull it down….it’s all stretched out? Due to the lycra this will not happen. The nylon is used to strengthen the silk and cashmere fibers. They are all twisted together to create one fiber. The Posh Knits are not heavy sweaters, actually they are light weight and perfect for layering.

Bonjour! Thank you for showing camel and pewter together. I probably wouldn’t have thought of pairing those colors but love the look. Very sophisticated. And your new posh cardigan is a classic style that I adore. Bottom line: I love the design of your posh items and many others purchased this season. BTW, earlier this month in Paris I saw women wearing short pleated skirts along the lines of your long one (A232346). Great look! Merci!

  5. Sherry

Hi Louis, I’m only able to get one tweed jacket…will the walnut quilted vest look good under the sienna tweed jacket? The sienna tweed is calling my name…that’s why I ask, thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The Walnut vest is dark and looks great with the sienna and raspberry tweeds.

      1. Sherry

Great, thanks!!! Would love to get both, but want other things as well…LOL!

  6. enjay

Louis, these are gorgeous! The tweeds are totally luscious – but I am NUTS about the Posh knits in pewter and camel. I want to snap up every style, in both these colors. And I’m hoping that the long sleeve cardie, tank and jewel neck sweater will also come in black??!! Can you let us now the other colors – pretty please? I want to know just how much rice and beans I’m going to have to feed my children for dinner this month, to keep my budget balanced 🙂

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear enjay, I might as well answer this now, because I will only be pestered to death until I do…LOL, but I’m telling you now….if one more person asks…I’m sending them to you!!!!

      1. Enjay

V-neck long sleeve in silk and cashmere?! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh!

        1. Carmille

Purple Haze! Wow, nice name, brings me back to the day and Jimi Hendrix! Love that song!! I think there is going to be a mad dash for these posh knit sweaters, they better have brought in enough to go around! I am ready!

  7. Qulia

    Louis,

Thank you for doing the long sleeve jewel neck in the posh knit. That classic is one of my favorite styles of sweater. It provides such a great backdrop for jewelry. Paired with the cardigan and the PK scarf – YUM! Can’t wait for the sneak peek on those. Now to decide whether I get a second tweed…

    Julia

  8. Pamela

Thank you LOUIS! Camel Posh Knit Cardi to layer with my Camel TNeck makes me happy, happy! Make mine Tweed anything….well done sweet couturier!

  9. Dariann

    Louis,
Love the sienna! Will it look good with a mustard color leather purse?
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Hard to say without seeing the mustard…..the colors in the sienna tweed are more luggage and rust than yellow. Some distressed rust shoulder bags can look great, but I’m not sure about mustard?

  10. nanc

Louis, Thank you for the sneak peaks, the tweed jackets are gorgeous. Tough choice, but I’m going with the sienna. I am also looking forward to the shabby chic sweater and elbow length/mock neck posh knit sweater’s. Will one of the colors of the elbow length PK go with the sienna blazer? Thank you, Nanc

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear nanc……the black and ivory s/s mock neck will work. Not ever style is coming in every color….only the cardigan the tank and the muffler will be avail in all colors. You can always layer another color PK over the Mock N to add color if you choose.

  11. Kate

Would any of your ruby/aubergine/claret sweaters would with this color way?

I love them all, but this is my favorite (and will be the first to sell out)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kate…..Aubergine, pewter, walnut, topaz and claret ….yes….ruby not so much….I think you can even throw a dark olive in.I mean if I saw you walking down the street wearing the ruby….I wouldn’t point and laugh at you, but there are better choices.
