The SHIRT & CARDIGAN………A TRUE AMERICAN SPORTSWEAR LOOK………There are many times when a shirt and cardigan is all you need, and there are other times when these layers enhance the jacket you are wearing. The combination of textures and colors, subtle or not, can make all the difference when putting an outfit together…………The two pieces I am presenting to you now are terrific examples of that………………………………………
A237555, is the FAUX WASHED SILK SHIRT. One of the important focal points here is the FABRIC. I have only used this fabric once before, and the immediate reaction was….”please bring this fabric back”. It is 100% polyester….but when you feel it….it feels like 100% SILK. It has a “washed finish”. The process of finishing this fabric is similar to that given to silk. The LOOK, the FEEL, the DRAPE are all the same characteristics as a washed silk, you really can’t tell the difference, and that is the reason the reaction was so positive…………A235312, A235313 and A235315, are the styles that were made in this fabric…..I suggest you read the reviews….especially those about the fabric……….This is a CLASSIC SHIRT, with a classic shirt collar and stand. It has a two button cuff, and a hidden placket front, so there are no visible buttons. In between each button the placket is tacked so it can not fly open. This step is not done on all shirts, but it does show quality. The shirt is approx 26 inches long for the XS. It has a slightly curved bottom and has side slits. This is the perfect shirt to wear on the outside of a pair of jeans, or with a pair of dress pants as shown above. Tuck it in or not depending on the look you want to achieve…….either way, the shirt on the body….. will always FEEL SENSUOUS!!! I believe the color above is called……………. PEWTER……….The sweater tied over the shoulders, in the photos to the right, is the PEWTER SILK & CASHMERE CARDIGAN………………..This is an easy care garment, which makes it great for all 0f you travelers………………………………………………………………………………………………….
A237552, is the CARDIGAN. The color is…………GRAPHITE……………The fiber is acrylic/wool, and I have used this successfully many times in the past. The knit pencil skirt and V-neck tunic are two garments that many of you own in this particular yarn. Some find the wool a little itchy, but the great majority do not, Jac who is very sensitive to wool, is not bothered by it at all. Of course, worn with the shirt, there should be no problem at all…………….The cardigan is LONG….approx 29 inches for the XS.,,,,,,,Great for LEGGINGS…… There are side slits too…………The sweater is knitted in the EVERY NEEDLE RIB construction, same as the pencil skirt, so this is not a flimsy sweater nor is it heavy. The ENR construction is a very expensive way to knit a sweater, because it uses a great deal more yarn. This construction gives the sweater more body. Some of the WK styles are done in this construction…..it depends on the style…..for instance the shawl collar and surplice sweaters in the WK are both done in the ENR. This construction can allow for the elimination of any other add on finishes that can add bulk to the hems of the garments…..it comes off of the knitting machine…FINISHED!……The buttons on the cardigan are dyed to match, and basically fade away, so they do not conflict with any accessories you may select…………The combination of the PEWTER SHIRT and the GRAPHITE cardigan works perfectly under both the SIENNA and VIOLET TWEED JACKETS…….. I have included in the picture collage some accessories that I think work beautifully with the shirt and or cardigan…………..J273959, the PANTHER LINK WATCH in SILVER, J270119 the MULTI CROSS NECKLACE & J270120 the matching earring, J270128& J270122 the LOVE KNOT NECKLACES, [the crosses and love knots are both back in stock]. The SWIRL earring J284033 is sold out but keep watching for a return , as I just notice there are a pair of the J270391, the DEMI HOOPS in the GUNMETAL!……………….The cardigan and shirt are the basic classic pieces that you will go to time and again, and become the CORE of a woman’s wardrobe……scroll down……………..enjoy………much Love……Louis
Love the faux washed silk fabric! Will this classic shirt in pewter go with the pewter WK pencil skirt?
Thanks, Louis.
Carol
Dear Carol….they go together perfectly
Great! Thanks, Louis.
Carol
This look is bedazzlingly classic and classy! Despite my being primarily a gold-loving girl who thrills to color, I stop dead in my tracks when I come upon this look. I love greys, and I am tempted to add mushroom (can’t do camel) somewhere. Or, perhaps I’ll just work with greys in gradation (sounds cutesy, but I mean it). Love this look!
Total Yum! have beem a cardigan/blouse girl for years and this is perfection!
Hi Louis, will the graphite cardi work with the charcoal ponte pant?
Also, do either of the cardigans work with the steel grey ENR skirt?
Dear Sherry….i no longer have the steel grey sample in the skirt, but for sure the lilac will work. Since the steel grey skirt was solid and the cardigan is heather it’s a 50/50 chance they will work together.
Louis, I know the camera plays tricks, but it looks like the Posh Knit pewter cardigan matches the blouse while the acrylic/wool cardigan is darker?
BTW, love the ENR of the surplice and shawl collar sweaters — they have a lovely “structure” to them.
P.S. — You had me at “Boar Suede Gloves” — had never heard of these and have been searching everywhere to find them!
Dear Jane….I’ve only seen Boar suede gloves for men in this country. I used to buy them for Jac in the little glove shop in Florence, Italy. It was one of those family run exquisite little shops that carried gloves, small leather good, brief cases and umbrellas with leather handles!
I didn’t answer the first part of your question. The camera is actually pretty accurate the pewter and PK match pretty well the acrylic wool heather is darker, and it works with the ponte grey knit pant…..shown in the bottom left photo.
Love the cardigan and appreciate the length. I have practically every color in the ENR skirt. Looking forward to this piece. I have the vest-front cardigans in fawn, black and perfectly pink. These cardigans with a smidge of wool in them make the perfect outerwear option for winter here in Florida.
I have a question regarding the A237556 navy and walnut pants. I managed to get all three colors (camel, black and caviar)in petite. Will the two new colors under the new number be available in petite?
Numerical-yes….petite-no.
I love, love the faux silk fabric because it’s soft yet has body and it washes really well. Just to be clear, both the shirt and the sweater come in just these two colors? Is that right?
Dear Kate…..that’s correct….two colors for each style…….
