FYI

This information is those of you who may have received a beaded necklace that came broken. Instead of sending it back to QVC you can, if you choose to, send it to the head office and they will make sure it is fixed properly. You would need to enclose a short letter with your name and address. Just state you are a Linea QVC customer and the necklace arrived broken. If there are any reorders on this necklace my new manufacturing partner will make them. Of course if the returns are too high it will be discontinued, and that will be a shame, because it is a fabulous necklace that will only become a more and more important accessory in the coming months. The address to send it to is:

TCJC

3B Industrial Drive

Smithfield, R.I. 02917

If you choose to send it to be repaired, please let me know how it turns out……………………………….regards, Louis

Well, I am happy to report that both my Gold and Gunmetal arrived intact and I have worn the Gunmetal for over 17 hours straight—to a business meeting, and then two flights home to Connecticut, traipsing through airports in Dayton and Charlotte! Haven’t worn the Gold yet.

Andrea: Do you recall the address of the “jewelry building” in Boston and do you know if they are still in business for restringing?

    1. andrea

I don’t but I’ll find out and post it here.

I planned on having some beads restrung by an jewelry maker who does custom artisan work at a shop around the corner. He’s in Cambridge near Porter Square.

    Hi Louis,
I have already returned the gunmetal mabe faux pearl earrings due to one of the pearls not being attached to the backing when they arrived. I’m not sure if this is the same manufacturer as the beads. I could have glued the pearl in place, but I was afraid that the other pearl would fall out at some point and get lost. Just wanted you to know. They are very pretty earrings, but definitely a quality control issue is going on. I also ordered the new pin in gunmetal and I love it. These were my first Linea jewelry pieces.

I am flummoxed that I should have to pay postage for an article that arrived broken.
It was returned to QVC, and unless the quality of the product improves, will no longer purchase your jewelry.

All warranties for jewelry I have purchased from QVC offer a 30 day return policy and if they are damaged etc, QVC refunds all shipping charges. Extended warranties vendors offer on jewelry items after the 30 days (if offered, are included in the box) give the address to ship item, how to ship and cost of shipping. Nordstrom, Bergdorf, Neiman Marcus all have basically the same terms on fashion jewelry. Most do not offer any repair on fashion jewelry after the 30 days. KJL and JR have included information for repair on most items but the purchaser pays for shipping after QVC 30 day warranty expires. Same is true for fashion watches. When I contact QVC, in reference to broken items, they always state they will note on order number to refund my return shipping and remind me to fill out return form noting damaged.

Thanks so much for this info. I ordered 4 and only 1 arrived broken ( the chocolate). I asked QVC for a replacement. I have received Judith Ripka items broken, so what about QVC’s quality control? I will follow your advice about storing them flat.
And you are right these necklace are absolute classics.

QVC can only spot check since there are hundreds of necklaces coming in…..some eventually get through.

Dear Beryl….as far as I know right now…nothing. I know in the past they asked for a nominal amount to ship it back, but I have not gotten that info. If I am told differently I will let everyone know. Also I should add…when storing them try to keep them flat and in a position where there isn’t any tension……

Good morning, Louis, Just to let you know that I ordered all 4 colors of the necklace and they all arrived in perfect condition. It’s actually amazing that they did arrive unbroken because QVC shipped the 4 boxes in a HUGE carton with no bubble wrap or paper filling in the empty space in the carton. All four boxes were open and the necklaces (in their plastic bags) were all loose on the bottom of the carton. I reported this to QVC. Someone in the shipping department really didn’t use their head in packing them. Love the necklaces — they are very beautiful, particularly the chocolate!

      Louis,

Would this work for the triple strand pearl necklaces? Mine arrived broken.

I ordered 4 of the double strand and received them all in tact.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jane….thanks for the message….there may be some hope. It really infuriates me when I hear the necklaces arrive broken. There is no excuse for that. The way QVC shipped it is terrible, but in all honesty they are not the initial cause of the problem. This necklace along with the multi rows of glass beads from last fall that had so many problems with breaking were particular favorites of mine. They should not have had the problems in production that they have had. This is one of the main reasons I am moving my production to another company that is know for their workmanship and high quality. They make very expensive fashion jewelry…..Wear them all in good health…..BTW….there is lots more CHOCOLATE coming!

HI Louis, I commented prior 4 of my 6 beaded necklaces arrived broken and sent back to QVC for replacement before you replied with the updated replacement information. The problem with all 4 of mine and from what I am reading was also the problem location for others was the bottom row, where the filament line was attached to the small bead at the end, was probably cut too close to where they tied it off and when the necklace was lifted up to put in the tissue paper or put on, the weight of the beads pull down and there is not enough filament left on the knot “tail” to stretch and so the knot slides apart. Also, since the filament line is not cotton, etc. it is slippery. Guess that’s enough of that, but I LOVE this necklace, all the colors and hope I there is inventory to fill my replacements.

Louis, I already made arrangements with QVC. I only ordered one and it came packaged properly. One strand was not attached and there was a strand of filament attached. Beads can be tricky; my only concern was I wouldn’t find one and it would damage my vacuum cleaner. No harm done.

Even one strand looked stunning. They frame the face beautifully. I’d hate to see them discontinued.

Years ago a friend brought me a beautiful strand of trade beads from Nigeria. Since they were strung on a piece of grass I had them professionally strung with some other beads added. I wore them constantly and they constantly broke.

Finally, I took them to downtown Boston to what is known as the “jewelry building.” A professional stringer named Pearl (I’m not kidding)said that the edges of the African beads was too sharp for the best filament and strung them both on filament and a chain. I think this was the fifth attempt and it worked. She told me to store all my pearls and bead necklaces flat. This was about twenty years ago.

I still have the African beads and look forward to wearing them with with my WK navy pants and TNK. The major color is navy.

Mine came the same way. The shipping box too big and no other packing material. All you lovely jewelry boxes loose and open. It contents scattered loose in the shipping box. None of the necklaces were damaged.
