Sneak Peak #4

“SNEAK PEEK #4

Sneak Peek #4 is the A219793, faux suede shirt in Purple, Avocado and Espresso Brown. The style and body of the shirt is taken from the “ROBYN” shirt. What ever size you ordered and liked in the Robyn…. you should order the same size! The only difference between the two, style wise is………I removed the collar stays. I was afraid, after a while, they would leave marks  in the suede fabric. You can wear this style as a shirt or as a shirt jacket, dressy or casual, belted or not, layered or not……..it’s extremely versatile and easily works no matter what your life style is, and it’s washable too. The colors in the photos are pretty accurate except where the flash lightened and brighten them……so refer to the purple photo on the upper left, the Avocado on the lower right and the Espresso is deep, dark and rich! I have chosen to style the purple with the white “Kate” shirt and the purple crushed velvet skirt…..a perfect Holiday look or….. just when you want to look extra special…..you know what I mean…..when you show up somewhere [even at the office] and you want everyone to go WOW! I also accessorized the outfit with two Linea gold chain necklaces, a gold woven belt and my signature beret in violet. It’s easy and most important….it’s comfortable. Remember what Coco Chanel said….. ” if it’s not comfortable it’s not luxurious”……. I love the Avocado and it really says “Fall” to me…… I have shown it as a shirt with the Espresso straight essential Roma ponte knit skirt that many of you own. I have accessorized it with lots of natural sienna, and amber beads, a sporty russet leather belt with antique brass hardware, luggage color “Boar” suede gloves and my signature brown beret and tortoise sunglasses……who doesn’t want to look like that! LOL. The Espresso I have chosen to show in  a look that is PURE AMERICAN SPORTSWEAR! The ivory Linea turtleneck under the Espresso suede shirt and the Taupe chenille blazer. I love all the mixture of textures. I have it with the taupe crepe pants from seasons past or you can wear an espresso, sand or even a WINTER WHITE pant for that 30s Hollywood Carol Lombard look! Pure chic and totally sophisticated. You can belt the shirt if it’s worn under the jacket or leave it unbelted. Another photo shows it worn open as a shirt jacket with the turtleneck……… belted with a vintage Gucci horse head buckled, brown lizard belt.

I hope I’m not over loading you with sneak peeks, but since these are my last fall/winter shows for the season [Jan. starts Spring], I thought these shows HAD to be extra special! There are still more sneak peeks to come!!!!!!

………………………………………much Love, Louis

Another, already….overloaded, not a chance…Love to see the way you style each outfit. For me it’s the avocado that’s calling my name. Thanks a bunch.

Louis, A question was raised on the boards about the texture of the faux suede shirt. Could you describe it a bit more. The feeling was that the ladies didn’t want it to feel like moleskin (which apparently they didn’t like), but wanted it to feel more like suede. Clarification please.

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Rhoda,
To tell you the truth I don’t think I have ever seen or touched “moleskin”….so I don’t know if it feels like it or not. All I can say is, for me, it has a nice touch and it is rather smooth. When you rub your hand up and down the cloth there is shading the way a real suede would look but not as defined as suede. It is, after all, a fabric and I would never suggest it takes the place of suede.
      I hope this helps…………..Louis

Moleskin feels kinda rubbery and slippery. Most unpleasant.

        1. louisdellolio

Dear Kate and Rhoda, I had to touch my samples again to see if they were at all “rubbery or slippery”. I can definitely say they are not rubbery at all. They are soft and have a very nice drape, but not so soft where they are mushy [I think you can tell that from the photos]. The reverse side of the fabric does have a smooth some what slick touch that I think is typical of all faux suede. I do not find it objectionable at all and I think it will actually make it easier for layering if you choose to wear it that way.I do remember the Halston “Ultrasuede” being rubbery and quite bouncy.
………….I hope this clarifies all questions about this fabric.

      2. Rhoda

I appreciate your quick reply. It does help.

Dear Louis, overload us some more!! I can’t wait to have an overloaded delivery of these fabulous clothes in December!! Thank you so very much for another sneak peek!

  7. Cathy

    Louis,

WAIT … what’s that purple top in the background photo with the Purple Crushed Velvet Skirt???? Looks like it has some topstitching at the hem, and MIGHT be a lighter shade of purple?

    Thanks 🙂

      Dear Cathy,
Don’t go getting all excited!!!LOL That’s just the flash going off on the suede shirt. That’s a good example of why colors don’t always show up true in photos.
      ………….regards, Louis

      1. Cathy

        Dear Louis,

Thanks for clearing that up for me 🙂 That’s just one of the reasons we like you so, being willing to explain such mysteries for us 🙂 Color is SO subjective. I’m up late tonight trying to get a brochure ready to go to press; just a one page flyer containing 8 different pies, and the Cherry Pie is a different color on each print, each monitor, each photo, even though they’re all calibrated … argh! Fabrics and manufacturing must be so much worse! No wonder I need help figuring out clothes to wear; my brain is fried on matching up pies with pies LOL.

Wonder if I could embroider on that new Sueded Robyn shirt … with some of the hand-dyed silk ribbons in my needlework basket … I see some ribbon roses and leaves twining down the collar and placket, or little autumn leaves falling down the collar … It’s hard to find simple garments that look rich enough to be worth the time spent on the embroidery. The colors and texture of the silk ribbon would show up so nicely against the texture of the sueded fabric; I think I’ll have to get one and try it.

Thanks again; look forward to December and spring shows.

    Louis,

The Sneak Peeks are FABULOUS! Just love the styling tips (another idea for my beautiful purple velvet skirt!!); they are so very helpful. And the opportunity to study the sneak peeks, the colors and textures; the opportunity to go look in the closet for companion pieces and ideas, in order to make better choices is just invaluable, and we LOVE IT. After all, these are not impulse purchases to be tossed in a short time; these are true wardrobe essentials designed to span seasons and years, and we LOVE that even more.

    Regards,

Oops – just went back and checked and see that it was not avocado but chartreuse. Still looks like it may go from the pictures.

  10. Carol

Well, I’ve just returned from a long weekend in Cabo wearing all Linea in aquamarine, plus the olive paisley boho, and now I’m ready for fall! Purple and espresso for me! I missed sneak peek #3, so I better go take a look at that, too. I’m so ready for the December shows!

Thanks for the previews and keep ’em coming!

I love this shirt. Since it is warm where I live year round I don’t buy much winter clothes but this will be perfect for a cooler day. I think I will get the avocado. I am assuming it will look great with the sneak peak whisper knit top in the same color. I noticed that you didn’t show it with that though. I will have to go back and peak at the collar. I can’t remember.

  12. Claudia (chprsp)

The purple shirt is a must have for me. I love these sneak peeks. Not overloaded at all.

  13. Dariann

Louis, keep your sneak peaks coming! They give your Linea ladies ideas to coordinate your new fashions with your clothing that we already own.

So glad that your friends enjoyed the Napa Valley – my husband and I are truly blessed to live here. We have been to Ventana on The Big Sur Coast (south of Carmel) and it is indeed another special place – two great choices for your friends’ honeymoon.

In fact Louis, as I’ve been thinking about it all morning, and I don’t mean to ruin your Monday with the idea 😉 – have you ever considered a catalogue raisonné of your best works? I could sit down with a book featuring the mixing and matching of your various designs in photos as you’ve done in these sneak peeks and happily study just how you accessorized and the wide range of play for each of just your Q designs. I’d pay BIG bucks for a picture book like that 🙂 I, for example, am so excited to try your new 26 inch pencil skirts with my fabulous ottoman knit long sweaters of yours with the gold buttons which I got in every single color. And I’d LOVE to see more ideas to play around with the shorter ottoman sweaters you came out with in a following season (again got every color)…I think, just this idea speaks to how timeless and classic your designs are. And just THINK how great those assymetric suede jackets of several years ago (I bought 3) are going to look with the new pencil skirts…and on and on it goes. It would be like an idea catalogue to my oh-so-Linea closet. A girl can dream, right? 🙂

  15. Rhoda

I knew these faux suedes would be my downfall. Your photos capture the color, texture, and style beautifully- more than I hoped. The problem is I love all three colors, and am sure I will want the matching skirts. These colors are so “me”. Your detailed descriptions of each item and suggestions of how to complete and accessorize each make me want them even more. We, all, so appreciate the lengths you go to to fulfill our wishes, from glorious photos to vivid descriptions to luscious colors that we desire to offering us different lengths where permitted, and finally assisting us in completing “the look”. Pucker outfit next?

  16. Lynn

Thank you so much for the sneak peaks! I love them! I know the purple faux suede shirt is coming home to me. I need to think about the other colors, too! Thanks again!

  17. Queendiva

LOVE your sneak peeks Louis. Thank you!
Would you kindly describe the “hand” of the faux suede Robyn? And how does the hand compare to the new faux suede jacket with piping?
    Many thanks!

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Queendiva,
They are the same fabric, except the jacket is lined and tailored which gives it more structure. Also, a little trick of mine, the metallic piping on the jacket has a cord filler to keep the piping rounder and not flat [an extra step I take in the production of the garment], which also helps to structure the jacket. The shirt is unlined and has a smooth back. The fabric has a nap to it which gives the “look” of suede, but not a deep nap. It is still light enough to wear as a shirt comfortably. The hand is soft….and has no stiffness at all. I hope this answers you questions…….regards, Louis

      1. Queendiva

        Thank you Louis.
I love that the shirt is not stiff at all, as a good suede or chamois would be, and that the back of the fabric is smooth. That will make it easy to use as a layering piece. I also love that you give us a variety of pieces that will take us from the dressiest to the most casual events, always looking like a million dollars.
While I plan to order the jacket in black and the shirt in 2 colors, may I say that I think your knits are without equal. They work for my body type and my lifestyle. I can’t get enough of them. Thanks you for designing your knits in a variety of styles, especially with so many different necklines.I am especially partial to a v neck whisper knit in any color!

  18. kate

The espresso is a must have for me. So Town and Country….would look stunning with jeans tucked into boots.

  19. Chris/Jazzmom

It just keeps getting better!! Thank you so much for bringing us these sneak peaks. I am a purple fan!!

  20. Nancy

There is no way we are being “overloaded” by these fabulous sneak peeks! I think I can speak for all of us Linea Lovers and say that we actually CRAVE this kind of sneak peak. Something we can stare at appreciatively for a while. Each shot gorgeously styled, chic, sophisticated. And it gives us an ahead-of-time glimpse – well much MORE than a glimpse – something we cannot get until mere hours before the show at the Q. Further, the quality of your pictures is so superior to what we can get online of these items … there’s just nothing more to say here. Except huge thanks!
