**************Many of the decorations in the house Jac and I made. We are pretty proficient with a glue gun. The little trees above sit on a table in our dining room. When we got them years ago they were bare. Out came the glue guns, the nuts, the fake berries, tiny birds, the ribbon and voila. On the far wall in the Gathering Room, on a long Chinese scroll table, sits two sleighs that we also decorated with the handy glue gun…..added this year….the little trees from Valerie…………..HaveĀ happy Holiday, and if you are traveling…..a safe one!

Oh Louis, a Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I’ve been globe trotting again, back from extended stay in Hawaii, which was totally enchanting beyond words.
But what caught my attention, among the many photos of you and Jac’s festive home, was the painting above of the crane. Cranes, lilies and lotus flowers are among my favorite Objects d’ arte, and they decorate many screens, etc. in my home. In fact, I have two bronze cranes sitting atop by media cabinet.
I hope you see this late albeit loving wish for good luck in the coming year and pass it on the Jac, will you. Of course, many Linea items traveled with me to the Aloha state. Will have to check the schedule right away for your upcoming shows.
Dear Cela…..Jac and I love this particular artist’s paintings of cranes. His name is John Carroll Doyle. He is a living American artist who lives and paints in his home state of Charleston, N.C. We have four of his paintings. Three are Cranes and one is large magnolia flowers laying on a table….It’s a beauty. We happened upon his gallery on Church Street on one of our trips to Charleston, a city we fell in love with. He is quite a handsome character, born in I think 1942…..Google him…..I’m sure you will find his work very interesting.
Dear Cela…..it is so strange that we were just discussing John Doyle and his glorious paintings. I just received an e-mail from the Gallery that John passed away from complications during heart surgery. What a loss to the artist community….I am so honored to own four of his wonderful paintings. In the e-mail they notified me the gallery will remain open. I believe it is located at 125 Church street, Charleston but you can always google him if you like….
How tragic. There is a portrait of a white dog over my mantle that I was considering replacing with the crane. Are any of his paintings on the web site?
Yes, there will be after the 15 of this month. They have taken it down for now. The paintings were pricy before, so I can only suspect the priced will sky rocket for the remaining paintings. They also have Glisenes [think I spelt it wrong] they are reproductions that look like real paintings…..much better than prints, for a fraction of the price. You may want to call the gallery for more info. You should google John Carroll Doyle and get the info.
Oh my goodness. I saw the paintings. Anyone who loves decorating must see this site. His work reminds me of Monet–impressionistic but all different times of day are represented as far as background colors.! I loved Blue Bayou and Persistence. We have many egrets around the harbor but I’m not sure I’d be able to tell the difference between an egret and a crane LOL. His work is wonderful. Reminds me of my Thomas Kinkade paintings. Have you heard of him?
Yes I’ve seen his work, but don’t own any.
You all are after my own heart, Louis. We were on just under 9 acres back in MD, and I made an annual trek to gather things with which to decorate for Christmas. Several types of pine cones, Tulip Poplar seed pods, and dried berries, pods and grasses of all kinds. Along with boxwood, Nandina, and greens of all kinds. Also magnolia pods and leaves from my barn. The kids and friends made wreaths, often with grapevines. I still have one I brought with us here! I miss those days!
