My dear friends.
First, I must thank you for all of the support and love you have shown Jac and myself. If it weren’t for all of you, this meeting would have never taken place. Jac came with me to the city for moral support. I also went into the meeting with all of your suggestions and good wishes.
I am pleased to be able to report to you that I met with the QVC representatives in New York City at the Linea offices, to discuss the future of the Linea/QVC relationship. The meeting was a positive one, but there are certain important matters yet to be agreed upon. It is my hope that this can be accomplished quickly and satisfactorily. I will be able to continue to provide you with my Linea collection through QVC. I will report back to you as soon as the open issues are resolved.
Blinddogs, if and when this should happen, I need to know which green you want matched….an A# would help!!!!!! All my LOVE….and a big THANK YOU……………Louis

Hi, just want to say I love my jumpsuit in olive green, and the fabic is wonderful just my kind. I’m going to order the skirt in black crepe and also the azure jumpsuit. I was looking at the jacket in white, and I will be buying it also. Love everything I buy from you because they flow, and fit me right and I need every thing I buy from you.
I LOVE the Linea line as well and have several items. I to support you Louis and hope that you will continue to have a line on QVC. I also know that if you choose to go to HSN or Shopnbc I will follow you there and would drop QVC like a hot potatoe! Best of luck to you and Jac. I will be watching your show this am at 1 am on 1-29-2011.
Hi My Louis,
Was great to see you the other day at the Q.
As I read these messages, I realize how wonderful it is for you to see
how much you are respected and loved by everyone.
Best to Jac
Suzi
Louis-
I, too, remain cautionsly optimistic about the outcome of this and future meetings.
I can imagine the number of issues that were presented, and I have full confidence you will not sell out, either in quality or the quantity we expect/need.
There are so many wonderful items I wanted to purchase, but they were sold out and not taking wait list orders.
I’m proud to be one of our Linea Ladies, and of course extremely proud of the way you and Jaq have handled this tense situation.
BTW, it was rainy in MD yesterday and I got so many compliments on your trench coat!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ijust mailed the following letter to Michael George’s office:
I buy Linea in quantity and in multiples because, thanks to QVC the prices are affordable.
I buy Linea because the designer touches are superb, the fit consistently perfect, the fabrication meticulous and the fabrics luxurious.
In my own small circle I am considered best dressed, a reputation effortlessly achieved by simply wearing the Linea line. It is never trendy. It is updated classic, simple but not plain, and always exactly right.
It is evident from the postings on line that the “Linea Ladies” are a highly educated, articulate, influential group of women whho know what they want. What they want is Linea.
Louis dell’Olio is an American treasure and should be treated as such.
ladies.we are lawyers,doctors,teachers.nurses.grant writers, traders.gardeners, judgesand so much more!!!not a dumb broad in the bunch!!!go figure-oh and in the future qvc dont mess with us.well done.
Dear Louis,
I am hoping that the open issues can be resolved in your continued negotiations with QVC. You are a man of great integrity and you must do what is best for you, Jac, and the Linea line. The management team that you met with should realize how important you are to the future of QVC and focus on that in their negotiations with you.
QVC needs to realize that many of their customers have lost trust in their company because of the way that you have been treated by them. Let’s hope that they make the proper amends to you.
I am so happy that I found your beautiful line of clothing and want you to know that I have never had some many compliments on my outfits. I will follow you and your fashions ANYWHERE!
I came in at the tail end of the Louis is leaving debacle. After the shock wore off I realized this could end up being a very positive thing. Remember “New Coke” and how many of us rushed out to buy our beloved old Coke? The lesson that ‘you don’t appreciate something until it’s gone’ came to mind and as soon as I read that Louis was leaving I immediately ordered every piece in his line I’d had my eye on.
Louis…I think you must now realize how many of us support you and will follow you wherever you decide to take your line. Zappo’s perhaps? Amazon? Your own website? QVC isn’t the only game in town and maybe it’s time they learned that.
Besides, the word ‘designer’ has been so diluted by QVC it hardly carries any weight any more. Their new famous designer is ‘designing’ everything from candy apples to cheesecakes? Alrighty then…
People with taste and style don’t need QVC to tell them when something is ‘amazing amazing.’ We know quality, we know classic styling, and we know Louis. Don’t let them bully you Louis. You have far more support than you know.
Just make sure we know where you end up!
Many good wishes,
Jesse
Louis, Blinddogs et al….Mike George will appear at 10:15 a.m. on April 28 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square in Manhattan. Just read this on the Homeshoppingista Blog.
Isn’t it a BIG relief to have yesterday’s meeting over with??? You were in the thoughts, hearts and prayers of many who love and have benefited from your work/talent/skills/art. Including me.
Like Blinddogs I continue to be concerned about:
Inventory ~ MORE should be being ordered by the Q so that so many of us are not left out in the cold as your new fashions are presented and disappear. Lots of complaints on the Q boards on that score. Can’t see pictures of items online before a show; there’s a LOT of anxiety about trying to order an item before the show even when it can’t be seen online because the Q seems to be ordering in “limited” quanitites; items sell out in minutes because inventories are so quickly depleted.
Re-ordering and creation of waitlists: I hope the Q works things out so that waitlists ARE available for most of your red hot items AND that waitlists don’t take months to a year for items to become available.
And finishing up Blinddogs quote here: Airtimes, TSV’s, exposure of the Linea “brand” in venues like multi-designer shows that would expose new customers to Linea; inclusion of Louis/Linea in Q advertising and online/onair promotions, such as special events and multi-designer shows.”
Will be waiting with cautious optimism until remaining concerns are negotiated or resolved to the satisfaction of yourselves and the Q. Meanwhile, sure did order up what I could find in my size and colors 😉 Looking forward to the May shows!!! Hope you and Jacq are finding time to get out and enjoy the beautiful Spring colors & temps!
Louis,
More stats that might be useful to you, culled from the 4/29/09 powerpoint materials presented by Mike George at the 2009 Barclay’s Capital conference in NYC at the Grand Hyatt Hotel– might be same site for this year’s conference, referenced previously)
–52 percent of new customers come to QVC via their website. Obviously, an enhanced Linea presence on qvc.com would increase new customers’ exposure to your brand. Linea product section should link directly to your ‘designer blog’ on qvc.com.
–Apparel has been an increasing share of QVC product mix in past decade, up to 21 percent from just 12 percent in 1998.
–Jewelry share of product mix is declining, down to 20 percent in 2008 from 32 percent in 1998. (Oh well, maybe now is not the time to press for jewelry, accessories expansion even tho the LL would love it…) This decline in jewelry share of product mix seems to have been underway even before recent record prices for gold, silver have cut into profits for jewelry retailers.
–Ironic graphic: a graphic touting “prestige designers” on the Q listed 3 names: Judith Ripka, Carmen Marc Valvo and Marc Jacobs. Judith is still there, I think Valvo had a very brief run and I was unaware that Jacobs ever did anything for the Q.
Hang in, we’re with you all the way!
Dear Louis and Jac:
I was hoping to read the news you shared, and I’m delighted that it appears you and QVC may continue your relationship. As Blind dogs articulated so well, we do not want to see your creativity and commitment to design and quality compromised in any way, i.e.,”…let Louis be Louis.”
I can only imagine how emotional and stressful this time has been for the two of you; however, the flip side is that it has given us the opportunity to let you know how important you are to us.
Enjoy your weekend!

Louis and Jac,
We are all thrilled at the positive tone of the meeting. However, being the cautious type, I hear, loud and clear, the caveats in your message.
Some of the Linea Ladies are wondering ‘what’s next’ to keep the pressure on QVC but not get in the way of your efforts. Obviously, if it is financial matters that are an obstacle, we have no way of addressing that issue, other than to say as many of us have that we would be willing to pay higher prices for your line on QVC.
If it is issues of maintaining your design and quality integrity, we know you would never compromise on that. (Nor would we want you to; we’ll pay more if they let Louis be Louis.)
Other points of our concern:
–Inventory and numbers of items ordered, re-ordered, and creation of waitlists;
— Airtimes, TSV’s, exposure of the Linea “brand” in venues like multi-designer shows that would expose new customers to Linea; inclusion of Louis/Linea in Q advertising and online/onair promotions, such as special events and multi-designer shows (As Aretha would sing, these are the R-E-S-P-E-C-T issues.)
We realize the caution and discretion required at this senstive time on your part. Any subtle hints on the areas of outstanding issues that we might address in our own independent way might be useful.
Maybe you could update us on Ellie’s condition… Hope she is doing well.
As for that “IF”– a knit pencil skirt in spruce green to go with the boucle jacket with satin piping A 92292.
***FYI–Upcoming Mike George appearance in NYC: Apr. 28, 10.15 AM, one hour speech at the Barclay’s Capital Retail and Restaurant Conference. Do not have specific location but it is probably listed in NYC press somewhere.(You can also sign up to hear the webcast of the speech on the http://www.libertymedia.com website: Click on Investor Resources, then click on Events, and to the right you will see listing and link for webcast of Mr. George’s speech.) I’ll be listening, for sure!
Good news to awaken to. I really felt things would be resolved. You know you had all of us in your corner. I love your clothes and style but a big thing for me is I like the man. You are someone I respect. Thank you, thank you to everyone who participated…..Louis, Jac, QVC and the Linea Ladies!
As I sit here in my corporate office at 30 Rock, I can only tell you how pleased and excited I am about the news. The only new clothes I bought from anywhere so far this season were Linea from QVC. I also just realized that I have worn an item from the Linea collection — and my collection is extensive — every day this week, whether a suit, a blouse or a shell as I am wearing today with my Tahari suit, and I don’t know what I would do without them. Please keep up the really good work Louis. We really appreciate your efforts.
Wonderful news! I hope the open issues are quickly resolved.
You are most of the way there — and we are awaiting the final word!!! Louis and Jac, we Linea Ladies are all delighted that you have gotten this far!!
Congratulations, Louis and Jac! I give credit to QVC for listening to customers, and hope discussions continue down a positive path. Thank you so much for the update!
Louis, thank you so much for the update. I’m sending all of the good vibes I can your way.
That’s the wonderful news we’ve been waiting for. I hope all the details are worked out to your satisfaction. Love to you and Jac
Good day Louis and Jac,
I am looking forward to your fashion shows!
Best wishes, Rose
Louis and Jac,
I am so happy for you. I have been thinking of you all day yesterday.I trust you will be able to resolve the open issues to your satisfaction. I have also been on a Linea shopping spree, and everything is as usual first rate!
If you are able to take requests, I purchased a couple of jackets that could use some coordinating tops.
God Bless
Thank you for taking the time to post the results of yesterday’s meeting; I’m sure you are mentally drained after the events of the last couple of weeks. Again you prove to be the gentleman that you are. I hope you and Jac have a relaxing weekend.

Dear Louis,
I’m so glad that that your meeting with QVC was positive and hope that the unresolved items can quickly be ironed out to your satisfaction. Thank you so much for keeping your Linea Ladies in the loop. This one is feeling very cautiously ecstatic.
As always, my best to you and Jac.
Ann from Maryland
I have been thinking about you and Jac all day. I am happy to hear that things are heading in the right direction and I am hopeful that the remaining issues can be worked out to your satisfaction. All the best.
Dear Louis and Jac, with all your Ladies I wish everything is solved to your satisfaction. We are forever your loyal Ladies.May God bless your undertakings. With enduring admiration for the designer, and faithful friendship to our friend, Alicia
Oh, Louis, what great news…fingers crossed that you will work out those last remaining and important issues. I ordered another dozen pieces of Linea over the last couple of days, including two Boho skirts, two matching Bateau neck crocheted sweaters and two zebra print trench coats (black & white and grey & black).
You and Jac must be so emotionally drained after all that has transpired…I hope you get some much needed rest and relaxation once everything is settled. Meanwhile, we’ll keep sending warmest regards and best wishes your way.
Louis I think you are a genious to be able to get things back on track, hopefully much closer to your satisfaction. Thank you for including us in the struggle- we will be standing by…Love to you and Jac and the doggies.
Celia
Louis, this is great news — I’ve been on pins & needles all day. I hope everything continues to move the right direction. HOORAY! Keep up the good work. We’re all behind you and Jac.
We did good, all week when I got ready for work I was thinking “Oh no what will I do if Louis is gone from QVC”. I couldn’t be happier.
Great news! I’ve been praying about this for days. All day I thought of you and the meeting. All of us “Linea Ladies” were all with you in spirit. It sounds as though we need to continue our prayers and positive thoughts. It ain’t over til it’s over. We, however, continue on with our mission to keep you on at QVC, so we can selfishly look marvelous in your clothes!
Seriously, we all love you and love your designs. I still want a trench dress that sold out in record time in my size. I’m a size 10 and love the yellow one, just in case you can bring it back. hahahahah! Heck, I’d buy it in any color! hahaha! It’s gorgeous, just like all of your other garments.
In the meantime, we continue on with our quest. I, for one, am holding onto the belief that God is still in the business of answering prayers, and you will still be us on QVC. If not there, then somewhere else that we can buy from. He will not let us down.
Stay strong and we will see you soon!
Sincerely,
Rondell
I hope you will be able to bring in more of the wonderful sleeveless trench dress in all of the sizes! It is so hard to order your clothes as they sell out so fast. I am very happy that the meeting went well.
Looking forward to your May show!
Bravo Louis – I love your clothes and hope to see many more of your styles back on QVC soon and for many years to come.
Happy to hear that things went well thus far and hopefully all will be finalized to your satisfaction.
Glad to hear that the meeting went well today and hopefully the kinks will be worked out for both groups (QVC and you) so that you can continue to provide great fashion to us all.
pngratulations and best wishes for the future–we desperately need your talent.
Thank you.
Well I’m happy and relieved! I am sure that the open issues will be resolved satisfactorily. I am encouraged that the meeting took place in your offices. I see that a conciliatory gesture on QVC’s part and a new showing of the respect that you deserve. Looking forward to the final outcome.
LOL, SOLDOUT
Louis and Jac, I am so excited and hopeful to read your update!! I love the fact that QVC CAME TO YOU, not the other way around — subtle, but significant! I will be waiting anxiously to hear the outcome of your negotiations. Can’t wait for your May shows! I haven’t been as vocal as some others, but believe me I am just one more of many women who are out here cheering for you!!
Louis & Jac- Godspeed to both of you during your journey over the next few weeks. I will be sending good thoughs and wishes you way!
I hope you get a deal that is everything you need and want in order to continue bringing Linea to QVC . You deserve the best for giving so much of yourself to your customers (and that goes for the lovely Jac too). Hope to hear great news soon, meanwhile it’s less than three weeks till your next show! I think Linea Ladies are calling it a national holiday and taking the day off. All the Best…
Oh, this is great news!!! I prayed for you this morning…for wisdom and direction. Now, I can get rid of my headache!!
Let spring truly begin!!! God bless you and Jac!! (and family, too!)
Cathy from NC
I think a loud cheer was just heard all over America! Bring on the new designs!
Happy Days are Here Again!
HOORAAY!!! I have thought about you two all day. I hope everything gets worked out to your satisfaction.
