SNEAK PEEK #6 is the A218574, rayon/spandex jersey top with waterfall sequins and self tie belt. The colors are black with gunmetal/silvery small square sequins or steel gray with the same gunmetal/silvery sequins. The fabric is super soft and feels on the body the way you would want an evening top to feel …..very luxurious. The sequins are machine sewn, which makes them very secure. The neckline has a slight scoop, not too low but enough so the neckline is open and feminine. The sleeve bottom is slim and has an elastic ruching so if you wish to push them up, you can without them sliding down……it’s all about comfort. Of course this is a great top for travel and it’s easy care. I have paired the black top with the A217982, silver/black lurex skirt and the steel gray top with the A217986, steel gray knit riding skirt. Of course there are many options for what you can wear as a bottom to theses two tops…..pants, pencil skirts, and black or gray jeans for a less formal evening with friends. I have also shown the A218570, faux suede jacket in the black/gunmetal combination because I think it is the perfect jacket to wear with these tops plus the black/silver lurex and the black/silver sequin cowl top from the last show. The question always comes up….”what jacket can I wear over this?” I think the faux suede is the perfect answer because it looks right, it’s comfortable and it can be worn inside as a regular jacket. I want to bring your attention to the tie belt because I have tied it a little differently. 1- fold it in half so you have a loop on one end and the two loose ends at the other side 2-Place the loop at you waist in the center front. 3- bring the two loose ends around your back to the front and bring them through the loop 4- this is the tricky part*** separate the two streamers and bring one to the right and one to the left and tie them in the back. IF there are “tails” you can tuck them in. When you tie the belt this way it keeps the front clean without the need for a bow or streamers hanging down. It works best on stretch fabrics…..I think with all the holidays coming up and beyond…..this top will be just what you may need………..Happy Holidays!………much Love, Louis
Louis, just wondering if the new top in steel grey would work with the steel grey skirt from a few seasons back, that also had a Chanel-style jacket w/ sequin trim? I have that set and was looking for an update. I think the top would not work under that jacket, but wondering about the new top over the “vintage” skirt. Thanks for all you do for us– Blinddogs
Dear Nancy,
When I first read your question I immediately thought….no, that won’t look right together, but I got the two samples and put them on my form and to my surprise…..I loved it! Even thought the skirt is covered in gray tinted clear sequins and the top has mirror effect gunmetal/silvery sequins, it really works together. Do I think it’s for everyone…..I’m not so sure. However, I do think it looks great….very editorial…..You also have the new steel gray waist whittling cardigan? That with a silver gray charmeuse cami would also look great with your skirt and very sexy………. best regards, Louis
Louis, Thanks so much for taking the time to pull the skirt from your archives. Yes, I do have the new steel grey WW cardigan and that is a GREAT idea for another look for the skirt, for a more casual look. It is so wonderful they way Linea clothing works, old and new, season after season. Truly investment dressing. thanks so much– Nancy/Blinddogs
This will look smashing on our cool-complected sisters. I thought of Barbara immediately when I saw this sneak peak. The gray would be such a beautiful shade on anyone with blue or gray eyes. I can’t wait to try he belt technique with some of my very long, narrow, scarves. Thank you!
Louis my dear man, Why do you keep DOING this to us 🙂 ? I already have both skirts you are showing these with, a long black/silver fringed shawl, another black sequined shawl, both gray and black jeans, and black velvet pants. Also other accessories like bags, earrings, bracelets, you name it. How can I not justify getting both?!! But of course we wouldn’t know what to do and fall into a state of despair if you STOPPED torturing us :-). As always, Barbara
But it’s sweet torture!
Yes, and I tell Old Grumpy that if I get rid of this vice, I will just have to get another one :-). But he loves your clothes on me, so this is a vice he approves of. Wasn’t it Plato who said that someone who has no vices, has no virtues? :-).
Yes! Love this way to tie a cord belt, too. I’ve used rounded drapery cord with tassel ends to do this, and it’s a great look–textured but clean in the front, and a surprise from the back! Here in Japan, I can buy obijime–a 5′ length of cord, usually flat–that traditionally is tied over the middle of an obi in a variety of ways. Fun to experiment!
Love the square sequins, too!
The directions are perfect for the tying any belt.
I love this grey sequined top!
WOW .. You just keep wowing me~~
Thank you for the directions and the clothes.
A very nice top for any dressy occasion! Thanks again for these sneak peeks.
Louis I forgot to ask…this looks long and forgiving around the low-hip. Can you tell us how long this top is – before belting?
Hi Nancy,
The top is aprox. 28 inches long. What I didn’t mention is that it has side slits so it looks good un-belted and hanging free….due to the drape of the fabric. It also has thread belt loops that can be removed very easily if someone doesn’t want them…….regards, Louis
Wow. I learn something new every time I watch a Linea show and every time I read from Louis on the sneak peeks. I am definitely trying this way of tying a long (soft) belt – of which I have several. Thanks professor!
Love! That grey is crazy chic. Thanks for the peak 🙂
Thank you so much, as always.
WOW, love this one…both colors. The belt directions are clear, I just don’t have anything around long enough to finish, but understand the “how to”. Thanks for the sneak.
Sherry
Louis, The Anonymous is I (Rhoda). I didn’t realize my name didn’t come up. (Oops!)
If I have time I will demonstrate how to tie it. In the mean time…..I would like you to try it, using any tie belt….even a cord will do, and see if my directions are clear…………..LDO
Your directions are very clear to me. I tried it, and it is a smooth, classy look. Is the black one with the sequins a good idea for the black pucker jacket?
Dear Rhoda,
It certainly works under the pucker jacket. I tried it and it looks fine, however, under the pucker jacket I prefer the silver/black lurex top or the silver/black sequin cowl…I think with the v-neck line of the jacket, a more uniform and all over glitter effect looks better……which the lurex top and cowl sequin shell provide…….but that’s just me……………regards, Louis
Thank you, Louis. I agree. However, I bought the sequin cowl in the black/ black. Will that look just as attractive as the silver/black one with the pucker jacket?
They are perfect together! I love the way the cowl fills in the “V” neckline.
Square sequins? Super chic. I’m assuming you’ll be demonstrating the belt tie technique?
