………………………..THE CASABLANCA MAXI DRESS…..is the last maxi dress I will be offering for this summer season…..Why Casablanca? You will have to ask Jac, because she named it. When she saw it hanging in my studio she said, “the print reminds me of Casablanca.” Since we were never there I assumed she meant the movie….which she did. I asked her why Casablanca and she said “it’s something I could see a woman wearing at Rick’s Cafe”…….I guess it does have a tropical 40s vibe, and the colors are definitely 40s……..This CASABLANCA MAXI DRESS will be offered in two lengths, A266303 for the regular length, and A266304 for the petite length.. The fabric is the same poly/span jersey I have been using for years and recently used for the Ombre midi dress and the Ombre tunic print. The dress itself has the same bottom as the Ombre midi dress, only longer, so if you like that dress, which most of you did, then you will like this dress too. The top of this maxi dress is completely different as you can see. First, it has a RAGLAND CAP SLEEVE always contrasted with black to high light the black in the print. There isn’t any zipper in this dress and it is a pull-on dress. The sizing is XXS to 3X, which is also different from the Ombre dress. The neckline comes just below the clavicle bone so it is not too low, and gives you a nice silhouette….perfect for accessories. There is shirring along the neckline which will give some extra bust room…..so for those of you who felt the Ombre dress was a little snug in that area…that should not be the case with this dress. The neckline is piped and has quite a bit of stretch…..not enough to wear off the shoulder, but more than enough to make it comfortable getting on and off. Also, there is no need for a lining in this dress anywhere….Since the top isn’t as fitted as the ombre dress and there isn’t any lining….it’s an easy fitting top……The POCKETS are also in this skirt too. Those of you who own anything in this fabric know how well is washes and packs….no wrinkles at all . You can take it out of your luggage, give it a shake, and put it on. For those of you new to Linea, you might want to give it a try. To me the fabric feels like silk jersey, and it doesn’t cling at all. It is also a nice weight and doesn’t feel too flimsy, or like you are wearing a night gown as some dresses in other fabrics and weights do…..The print, as I said, definitely has a 40s vibe and is a very intricate print as you will see when it arrives to you. There is just the right balance of BLACK…OFF WHITE and in this case……MAGENTA. It looks DESIGNER………. If you need a cover up for chilly places, any black jacket or cardigan will work. I off the new Black Bolero in the ENR WK or the BLACK WK SHRUG which also has that period vibe and works really well with this dress……..Whether you are off to Casablanca or just your own back yard party, I’m sure you will enjoy wearing your new Linea Maxi Dress…….ATTENTION!!!!!….This CASABLANCA DRESS will be presented on June 5th on the 6:00am FEW show…………….much Love…………………………Louis
Well if we’re confessing, I have to say that I’ll be buying the Casablanca maxi in two colors – one to wear as a maxi and one to cut off to top of knee length, lol! Love this print with its 40s vibe. Love the cap sleeves and the neckline. Guess I just love everything about it. 🙂
Would you hate me if I lopped off the bottom and made it a mini? So cute!
No….it would be cute that way, and you know I would never be able to offer something that short.
Where there are scissors, there’s a way. Thanks. will order magenta and olive.
You’ll have enough fabric left over for a bandeaux or a tube top….definitely a tank.
Hi, Louis. When I view the Magenta dress on my iPhone is has more rose/pink in it than when I view the dress on my laptop where it looks more purple. So, not that you can see what I am looking at, but, is the dress a pinky/rose magenta or is it more on the purple side? I’m trying to decide whether to order the Magenta or the Azure. Thanks.
Will Jac be posting a photo on her Facebook page of her wearing the Casablanca dress?
We can hope
Hi,
This is beautiful. How would it look with the magenta lace cardigan A229467 which I own from a few years ago? I’m hoping it will provide light weight arm coverage plus make it a little dressier.
Dear Christine….I wish I could answer you, because it;s a terrific idea, but I no longer have that same to compare colors……If memory serves they should be in the same family…..but my memory has failed me before….LOL
If I may answer from one Christine to another, I have the magenta lace cardigan and I am pretty sure it will work nicely with this floral print. I have worn it with the ombre magenta dress and it was perfect for walking around indoors at a party.
This is going to be a very tough decision as to which color to purchase– magenta or azure?? I wore the other night the ombre dress with the magenta lace cardigan. They were perfect together. I posted a photo on FB to show some of the Linea ladies I am friends with. Is off white considered ivory?
Thanks for posting,
Chris
Off white is a little less creamy, but I am showing the ivory Bolero with it and they look wonderful together.
Thank you, I have an ivory one from another manufacturer and a white from the same manufacturer.
Chris
Thank you Louis! This magenta maxi is the queendiva Casablanca dress! I will wear it just as shown, with the black shrug I already own and my palm frond necklace. Your previous dresses were not quite right for me. This one will be perfect to add to my collection of Linea maxis.
I already see this one as being perfect to wear for my son’s college graduation next year. I wore your pink/brown medallion print maxi for older son’s graduation two years ago 🙂
Dear queendive, I don’t know the reason you thought the other maxis weren’t right for you…print or style, but this body is very similar to the ombre dress so I’m not sure this will work for you if that did not.
You have indicated that the top is less fitted on this dress and that the neckline is a bit more open. In addition, this print and color is just more Me. I will check QVC’s measurements when they are posted. Most of your clothing works great in my plus size and I enjoy your poly/span fabric.
Yes,,compared to the Ombre midi dress i do think the top is a little easier because the top isn’t lined and the fabric, which is the same, can stretch more, also the little bit of shirring adds a little more fullness.
Dear Louis,
These dresses are gorgeous! I love the print, the colors and with the palm frond necklace and earrings…they are a huge WOW!!
With love,
Celia
