…………………………….. NAVY and BLACK has always been and always will be a VERY sophisticated chic combination…..There are many skeptics who do not understand or believe that NAVY and BLACK look great together. If this NAVY and BLACK trench coat doesn’t change your minds…..nothing will. Here you see the coat UN-BELTED with the belt casually tied in the back. The PRINCESS SEAMS, front and back, give the coat a beautiful gentle shaping………A stark IVORY TURTLENECK such as the fabulous A259110, and my slim black pant A265615, that so many of you love, is all you need to look like you broke the bank in Vegas………..This is a look that demands a WOW………………….Don’t forget! I will be presenting this TRENCH COAT on AMStyle August 29th, at 8:00am with Leah Williams……………….This is not one to miss…………………………………..enjoy……………………………….much Love…………………………………..Louis
Louis
I love your trench. I am leaning toward navy and black. You indicated numerical sizing. Do you know if this coat is cut generously?
I am sure I am to preorder prior to your appearance next Saturday. Can you give us any information as to sizing, cut generously, true to size, or runs small. Thank you Louis.
Dear Joanne….I tried the trench on Jac….she is a 6 and the coat is a 6 and she said it fit TRUE TO SIZE…..It’s not generous, and it’s not small. As you know she has worn lots of clothes and I trust her judgement.
Be still my heart, Louis!!! Navy or burgundy; navy or burgundy; navy or burgundy. What’s a woman to do?!!! Either (or both!) would work with virtually everything in my wardrobe. Would also like more information in the shade of navy. Many thanks!
Dear Barbara, I checked the navy against my navy WK pant and they are pretty much a match. Due to the different fabrics there is a very slight difference, but very slight….Navy….Burgundy….Navy….Burgundy…..that’s a tough one!
Thanks, Louis! I usually move pieces around rather than matching them all up, but it is nice to have that option. I’m sure I will go back and forth on this but can’t go wrong with either!
That’s what I thought….It’s nice to have the option. It is so seldom when you have the opportunity to get everything dyed to match including the hose.
Is this navy the dark “Linea navy”? It looks a bit lighter in these photos. All three color options are beautiful!
Dear Cheryl….you can never entirely go by photos. I too thought the coat was lighter until I put it next to the navy WK pant. They are almost a match…..very close
Just adding my voice to the chorus here Louis, this is the final word on trench coats! I don’t need it and was, before your posts , convinced that I could hold strong and not order another outerwear jacket or coat this year. Ha! I lived in my two Linea pea coats last year and should be happy with those but I need your navy trench. That’s all there is to it. Love.
I too wonder whether I could spray a water resistant product on this material, what do you think? I wouldn’t go walking in the rain but the cooler seasons in this marine environment mean mist and showers and lots of moisture. And can you design us a rain resistant coat or jacket, will the PTB ever go for that?
Thank you for this gem!
Dear Saphira, I’m really not familiar with spray on water resistant products, so I would not give an opinion. Fabrics that have to have a water resistant finish applied, that are not rain fabrics, cost more. It’s the price that would meet resistance rather than the finish. Many times these applications are put on less expensive fabrics so the increase isn’t too much, but putting them on an already expensive fabric can bring the price out of the ball park.
Thanks for your reply. I also read your reply to Susan R (Olive Trench) and, having both navy and black umbrellas, think I will be good to go in the mist.
I will look & feel terrific!!!
I know there will be gnashing of teeth for those who don’t order and receive this to die for trench. All I can add is be quick to get your size and color! This little beauty is coming home to me, as well as the merlot color. The more I look at the details, the more I’m willing to relegate my Rodier to the back of the closet. Which is saying a lot- I love that trench but this coat just makes me smile.
Wow! This is really beautiful! Will you give us an opinion about the warmth of the fabric? Do you envision it as being appropriate for cold Chicago winters or more like late fall, early winter, early spring? Is it similar weight to the pea coat?
Thanks!
It’s not a wool blend like the Pea Jacket so I wouldn’t think it would withstand very cold temps, but then I didn’t think the Pea jacket would either and I was wrong on that. I think if it’s layered with a cashmere TN and maybe cardigan and scarf, beret and gloves….it will probably work for all but the most bitter temps. Also keeping your feet warm is very important. You know what they always say….lots of thin layers holds the body heat in.
Me too! Love the navy & black combination–very French. And, that outfit is to-die-for. Will be copying that for sure!
Good Louis, this has my name all over it! Can’t wait. Thank you.
