……………There is a saying…………”you have to look just as GOOD GOING as coming”…….I could sit and doodle different backs all day long!…..These quick sketches of ideas that flashed in my head were for bathing suits and body suits, but I could adapt them for tops, sweaters and dresses as well.

“CURVED AND WAVY EDGES”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

…………………For my Anne Klein Spring 1992 collection I used the scalloped, wavy edge as a detail…..For each garment I designed I had to draw the wavy style lines directly onto the muslin when Jac was wearing it….so I knew the placement was correct. This was very important especially for garments that buttoned closed……Some of the garments were just clean finished with matching wavy facings, and some were edged with black self fabric wavy bandings……These were difficult garments to make. Most were made in a fine wool crepe from Italy. I made a variety of jackets, dresses and skirts with this detail. It became a MAJOR THEME of this spring collection.

………………Doing more elaborate illustrations of imaginings of what the Spring 1992 collection could look like was great fun. Of course not everything became a reality, but I still could imagine them coming to life, and strutting down a runway on the SUPERS!!

“THE WAVE SKETCHES BROUGHT TO LIFE”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

…………………..You have seen the croquis, and illustrations……..here are a few examples of the WAVE  sketches brought to life for my Anne Klein Spring 1992 collection……From left to right….The pink wave button front long jacket on Christy with the black contrast banding, worn over a “Wave” shell with black trim, and a pencil skirt also banded in black……all made in an Italian fine wool crepe…..At the top center, Yasmeen wearing a solid black “Wave” wool crepe buttonless jacket over an ivory wool crepe sleeveless Wave dress….Below is Christy in the same Wave dress in black crepe…….and to the right a wisteria Wave buttonless jacket banded in black over a solid black Wave sleeveless crepe top, and an ivory Wave skirt with a black contrast banded hem…….The WAVE detail does not have a time frame or denote a period in time…….Though all of these styles are over 30 years old…….they are timeless and could all be worn today.
