“THE SALOON SKIRT”

……………….Another major trend for Spring season of 1992, was dubbed by the fashion press as the …….”THE SALOON SKIRT”…referencing the “OLD WEST”…..The style skirt was also one of those mysterious items that all of a sudden, to my surprise, showed up on a few runways….Was it in the AIR?….or did some editor “suggest” to other designers to add some dressier full short skirts?….We’ll never know…..In later years, it was even made reference to in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” when they are going through one of their run throughs with Miranda and….Stanley Tuccis’s character said something like…”Give me a SALOON skirt any day of the week”, or something like that……I made three versions of the so called “saloon skirt”, and here are just two……At left, on Ludmila….in THE PINK LINED BUSTIER worn with the tiered PINK TULLE & BLACK LACE full SALOON SKIRT….and on the right….Yasmeen is wearing another style Bustier lined in Pink with satin bands on the bodice and a satin bow at the top where the bra meets…..The full SALOON SKIRT has many many LAYERS OF PINK TULLE with a BLACK LACE OVERSKIRT………..These skirts sold well too……They were flirty and FUN TO WEAR!……….Women seemed to be in the mood for a good SALOON SKIRT!!
